Press the dedicated button for keyboard backlight

Some keyboards, such as the Logitech G Pro desktop keyboard, have a dedicated button that you can press to turn the keyboard light on or off. In the case of the Logitech G Pro, you’ll want to look for a button stamped with a sun ray icon in the upper right corner of the keyboard. Any laptops it also has a dedicated backlight key, although the icon can vary greatly. ..

Press to increase brightness button

To adjust the keyboard backlight brightness on a MacBook, press the “Increase Brightness” key and increase the brightness until you reach your desired level. To turn it off, press the “Lower Brightness” key and decrease the brightness until the light goes out. ..

Some Macs running MacOS High Sierra, Mojave, Catalina, Big Sur, or Monterey may be able to use brightness increase/decrease buttons to adjust the screen’s brightness.

Press assigned function key

If your laptop has a backlight, you may need to press a function key to turn it on. If that’s the case, the function key will likely depend on the make and model of your laptop.

For example, on Dell notebooks, there are three possible key choices: F6, F10, or the right arrow key. In some cases, F5 is also possible. From these options, you should be able to tell which one controls the backlight by seeing which one has the lighting icon (which looks like a half-sun with rays) stamped on it. If you don’t see this icon at all, your Dell PC does not have keyboard backlighting. But if you see the icon, press the function key that contains it. (You may need to press it in conjunction with the Fn key.) Press this key combination – Fn + [Function Key] – should allow you to cycle through the various brightness level options for your Dell PC keyboard, so keep pressing it until you reach the desired brightness level or until you turn it off. ..

Adjust it in Control Center or Windows Mobility Center

The PC control panel menu for your device allows you to turn on the keyboard light.

Some MacBooks have a control center in the top left corner of the screen that allows you to adjust Keyboard brightness, as well as other settings. This usually works for some models that also run MacOS Monterey or Big Sur.

Enable keyboard backlight in BIOS

Some laptops have the right keyboard light buttons but they don’t work the way they should. You may need to check your device’s BIOS settings and make sure they’re configured correctly, or your BIOS may need to be updated to the latest version. When doing any of these things, be sure to follow the device manufacturer’s instructions at how to do this carefully. Some manufacturers like HP or Dell have posted detailed instructions online at how to check these problems and/or fix them.
