The Ring Spotlight Cam is a chunky, rectangular-shaped outdoor camera that measures 4.96 x 2.72 x 2.99 inches / 12.6 x 6.91 x 7.59 cm (h x w x) and comes in black or white. What it lacks in appearance, it makes up for in functionality, with a large two-way speaker beneath the main lens and two bright spotlights either side and one below.
The Ring Security Camera can be rotated to face in any direction. The drill bit and raw plugs for drilling screws into the brick wall come with the camera. Ring recommends positioning the camera about 10 feet / 3 metres off the ground.
We found that the security camera bracket attached to the wall was not as easy to install as we had thought. The Torx screw head on the security camera bracket made it difficult to install, and it took us closer to an hour once we had properly angled it.
The Spotlight Cam is a camera that uses two batteries to function. The camera works with only one battery, and if you want to extend the time between charges, you’ll need to purchase additional batteries. When it comes to performance, we had no complaints about the Spotlight Cam.
The video and audio quality during the day was good, but the images after dark were not as clear as we wanted them to be. The two-way audio was very loud and clear, and the lights were powerful enough to illuminate the entire garden. The device is great for people who want to be able to see their conversation partners in the field of view.
